Little Ashes

Little Ashes. A glimpse into the forbidden love affair of spain's acclaimed duo; surrealist painter Salvador Dali and poet Federico Garcia Lorca, that tested the conservative morality of their time. For art idiots like myself, Salvador Dali is best known and loved for painting the melting clock that hangs on a dried tree branch in 'The Persistence of Memory'. Portraying the eccentric man himself was indeed a graveyard trip for twilight heartthrob, robert pattinson, but he did it with such flare that had me knickers twisted in a knot even the best boy scout could not help untie!

And if team edward is not exactly your cuppa, another gem that will have your heart racing like school girls on steroid is the spanish actor that played Federico Garcia Lorca; Javier Beltran. His accent in the film alone is enough of a reason to have me adding all #2843 javier beltran's on facebook, hoping one of them is him and i could finally put those restraining order against me to rest. *i still don't understand the nonsense why i have to be 50 yards away from my javier beltran
at all times. Maybe the judge doesn't know that he's me lover, me soul mate and he's the one i would spend me life with eternally...

Blahhh...

The blogging spirit in me has risen yet again. I think it might have something to do with my current effed up mood of watching the most intricate self-absorbing art films ever produced, and its screwing up with my inner logic for everything worth mentioning, hence my desire to express myself kicks in with a bang! that only bruno would understand. I've been in this serious blabbing mind set ever since spending seventy one minute watching pink narcissus last wednesday, which in my honest opinion totally took the cake for being the weirdest, most freakish film EVER to grace my desktop.

And all this week, with the horror of it still swimming in my thoughts, i've developed a secret love affair for the
bright, otherworldly lighting in the film. It reminds me of pierre et gilles' stuff. Or more currently, rihanna's take on the whole psychedelic hues in her 'only girl' music video. I always dreamt hills to be in pink and skies to be in crayon purple to be honest. Seriously, i'm not rainbow loving for nothing ya know. I see things in illogical colours that andy warhol wished he could.

And with this power bestow upon me, i tried to pressure a fellow film director friend of mine to colour grade his current music video in that direction, but sadly, he declined without a second thought to it. Bastard child that he is, i do see his logic in it all. After all, one can hardly take a rock band seriously if they're drenched in bubble gum colours, can he?

Anyhoo, here's some shots from the shoot. And just in case you've been hiding underneath a rock, i'm the dude in mint green.

Ahh. I went for a haircut yesterday with lady yessica. And i must say, boy was i pleased with the end result. Its actually pretty much what i have been dying to have ever since i chopped off my zac efron-inspired locks a few years back. My photo reference; River Viiperi, as attached.

I only wish my new haircut comes with a free six pack. I will then die a happy camper for sure!

From Beginning to End

Do Começo ao Fim is a film by brazilian filmmaker aluisio abranches. This is rather an unconventional film. It tell the story of two half brothers who develop a very close relationship as they are growing up in an idyllic and happy family. When they are young adults their relationship becomes very intimate, romantic, and sexual. Yes, i copied that entire sentence from imbd. And yes, the film deals with a relationship that is often considered taboo; incest. But, its really a nice film. Go watch it.

p/s : Work started over the weekend, and its screwing up my mood for posting. Hmm. Hopefully this feeling will not stay too long..

I Killed My Mother

Ohkay. So this is SUPPOSED to be a film review, but i just could not help posting up photos of the director/actor instead. Which i thought was more relevant to the film than the film itself, coz' frankly, he stole the show from me the first few seconds he came on screen. I was gaga, nevertheless.

Meet Xavier Dolan; my current obsession of the week, and the talk of the film festival at the moment. He wrote, directed and acted in the film
J'ai Tué Ma Mère or I Killed My Mother (in english) which won international press' attention when it was screened in 2009 cannes film festival. He's crazily talented, obsessively attractive and has an attitude to match.

J'ai Tué Ma Mère centers around hubert minel, a sixteen year old living in suburban montreal with his single mother. Hubert's mum is a pain. She complaints, nag and boss hubert EVERY single day about EVERY single thing, which of course, irritates the hell out of hubert. But little did she know, hubert has a little plan of his own that could kill her, not literally, but almost as painful. I killed My Mother is every teenage boy's revenge story, told in french :P

By the way, xavier dolan is only twenty one at the time this post is written. Bastard and a half!

Mr. Jem and the Holograms

Something i did while waiting for an exceptionally long post to be uploaded. It's my take on how Jem and the Holograms would look like as a man in anime. Actually, i think i look more like adam lambert's background dancer if you ask me. Pretty FIERCE.

Rockaway Taco

Oh Lord in high heaven, i have found my perfect taco bar/surf shop/juice counter/coffee hut in the WORLD!! Its Rockaway Taco at Rockaway Beach Queens, New York City. I just lurve the whole matter-a-fact layout that this guys have adapt to their shop. Its messy in a very artistic way that's intriguing and interesting to say the least. Every nook and corner of the shop has its own little personality that contributes to the whole effect that this place has.

Why can't we have something like this at the neighbourhood that i'm staying in? WHYYYY??!!

All photos are taken from the shelby, except for the last photo which was from rockaway taco's webpage. xoxo

Daydreaming AGAIN

Ahh.. another boring day in paradise. Hmm. Well, boys and girls and tranny alike, let's all do something fun and exciting for today *said in a high-pitched, strident voice* That's me doing my thang for Dora the Explorer. Treat it as my little tribute to the downfall of our next generation all thanks to Playhouse Disney. Honestly, Barney the purple dino was way better, if you ask me.

Anyways, since it's the dawn of the lunar new year, let's daydream about what we would have accomplish if we have chosen a different route in life. Think, gywneth paltrow in the 1998 cult film sliding doors. Apply the same theory here. So, i'm thinking what if i'm less of a prune and be a lot adventures, would i still be working in advertising? What would i have done? Would i have led a different life? Would i be the wanna you guys have learned to love and adore? *puke* Haha.

If given that chance, i would pack my bags in a heartbeat, jet off to one of the scandinavian countries, work in a fish farm on weekdays, pluck herbs in the weekend and save enough to open my own concept store. The store would have findings from my frequent escapades to the likes of antique shops along cukurcuma caddesi in turkey, the flea market near st. ludmila cathedral in prague or underground designer pieces at changle lu, shanghai. I imagine the place to have worn out painted-white wood flooring, large french windows with thin rusty steel frames, high ceiling and preferably with an open mezzanine floor to work as a small office. I'll have odd out furniture lining the pleasure ground, heavy off-white fabrics to drape the windows, and have enough sunlight to escape through, to keep the store in the feeling of the first day of summer, where the breeze of spring still lingers in the air. I'll call the store, Rusty.

p/s : As always i have a confession to make. I really seriously have no idea where most of these photos are from. Hence, if any of this is yours and you want them down, let me know ya..

So, all together once again now, 'i love you, you love me, we are all a fa-mi-ly'
